I am not a fan of dystopian futures, have I ever mentioned that? Maybe not here. But originally, I avoided sci-fi like the plague because I was completely convinced that it was all horrid dystopian futures. Which is true to a certain extent. Quite a lot of it is.
So now I'm being forced to read The Handmaid's Tale by Atwood and I...well, I would never read this on my own, let's say that. It just makes me angry and depressed and as I was already angry from last night (due to [livejournal.com profile] moralsremitted) and also depressed (due to let's not get into that) it is NOT HELPING.
Especially because all of this stuff it has with the women getting banned from work and being forced to be housewives (initially, at least) made me realise that I'm fucking WRITING a dystopian future with this 50's AU and I never noticed before, due to how cracky it generally is. But now that it's got a depressing plotline itself I've realised what I've done. I hope this doesn't depress me from doing it! There are wonderful strong women in the series: Donna keeping her job and fighting against piggish men and stereotypes of the society for the sheer stubbornness of HAVING to because she couldn't look at herself otherwise, staying in a job when she would actually gladly get married but for the loss of her rights; Rose, who as far as Leah and I can tell is off by herself fighting aliens, to hell with the Doctor; River, who wields her sexuality like a weapon, breaking through the shocked morals of the society like a battering ram; even, or, especially Alice who has begun to feel as if perhaps not everything is right, her problems aren't necessarily HER fault, that there is another, better way. I mean, hell, even the Doctor is trying to break down this stupid society somewhat although the Master REALLY ISN'T HELPING.
Shit, I'm tired, guys. I've been reading too much Margaret Atwood.
Anyway, I wonder if I should be going more into depth with this society. What happened to MAKE it this way?
I wish it was crack again.

Title: What?
Series (Story number): Who's Right? (16)
Summary: Don't write stories when you're very tired. 50's AU.
Rating: PG-13? How do ratings even work?
Characters/pairings: Master/Doctor
Author's notes: I was avoiding sleep and messaging a story to Leah who was sitting right beside me. Strangeness in the story is often due to me forgetting what I'd just written and rolling with it. Explanation of series here.

Rambling is good, right? )

Title: Challenging Societal Norms Through Baked Goods
Series (Story number): Who's Right? (15)
Summary: The Doctor enters a baking contest. 50's AU.
Rating: I don't actually know...maybe 14A? But more likely just PG-13
Characters/pairings: Master/Doctor, Barbara Jones, Fran Appleton, Lianne Moore
Author's notes: I've become far too lazy to text Leah the stories any more and have turned to writing them to her on MSN. This story came partially out of an actual event that I found in a book of amusing British happenings culled from newspapers and partially from the discovery of [livejournal.com profile] snowgrouse's mutual interest in wheatsex and my willingness to include the aforementioned interest in the series. EDIT: Whoops, forgot to edit the summary the first time. Explanation of series here.

Mmmmmm...wheat )

So there's this hilarious site...it translates English into Japanese and back and forth and back and so on. So I started feeding stuff into it.
Like the Doctor's last words to Rose: "I love you." "I'm Rose Tyler, I have this ... I also, President Bush is right ... ..." had a chance to look around

Or when he's telling Sylvia and Wilf about how important Donna is:
The rest of the world world of words, his people's safety and air Donanoburu her the number of light I'm alive and singing. 1000 100 million light-years away. While she does not remember, she will never forget. However, for one moment ... one shining moment ... she is the overall width was the most important woman in the universe.

River's final speech at the end of Forest of the Dead:
Everyone knows everyone died. Instead, every day. No, not today. Some days are special. Some days are very blessed. One day, nobody died at all. As well as outgoing calls, a variety of people, our live show, 100 degrees, September 1, travel expenses for doctors, the length of the daily allowance, many people are very warm people.

After that point, I started getting silly and writing little stories and translating them after.
Stories behind cut because this is actually rather long )

Then, of course, Leah asked me to translate an ENTIRE 'Who's Right?' story. So I did. The fair one.
At one point, it started sounding like badly translated softcore porn: His job is to find and cotton candy in his mouth, and eat with him, their fingers, the master, and Tuck, Sun said, licking the rest of the master volume, the idea is ridiculous suggest that something is beautiful.

The Final Copy

The first few words of this would make a really good name for the original story )

Rating: PG-13
Characters/pairings: Master/Doctor, Alice Cartwright, Peter Cartwright, Gordon Brown Fisher, Theresa Bond
Author's notes: This is based on true events....vaguely. And a truelife party game from the 50's. Explanation of series here.

Summary: At another dinner party, the Doctor meets someone new. 50's AU.

You know, I have a sneaking suspicion that the reason I'm so obsessed with [livejournal.com profile] moralsremitted is because my own parents treat me like a fifties housewife.
And being able to TREAT SOMEONE ELSE like one is very nice.

Title: Manipulation
Series (Story number): Who's Right? (8)
Summary: The Master is wearing weird shit. 50's AU.
Rating: G for good and wholesome and stuff
Characters/pairings: Master/Doctor
Author's notes: Written in text to Leah A. I can't remember the exact origin of this one but it had something to do with...somehow saying that John Simm was wholesome or something and Leah being drunk and thinking about how funny a wholesome Master was. Probably. Those texts are gone now. Explanation of series here.

I've been listening to the Pipettes and THEY ARE TOTALLY THE SOUNDTRACK TO 'Who's Right'.
Especially this song.
But also all of them.
GENIUS.

Title: The Oncoming Naaaww
Series (Story number): Who's Right? (7)
Summary: The Master kills people. The Doctor is displeased. The Master thinks this is cute. 50's AU.
Rating: PG-13
Characters/pairings: Master/Doctor
Author's notes: Written in text to Leah A. All of these are from lulzy conversations with Leah. Honestly. Well, maybe some aren't. But this one is. Explanation of series here.

“If it helps,” said the Master, “they were all very bad people.” )

SO I MADE MY CHARACTER JOURNAL, YOU GAIZ.
It's based off of the 50's Master/Doctor AU that I started for the lulz.
If anyone's interested (don't feel pressured, it's just for me to have fun with, really) you can find it at [info]moralsremitted.
ALSO if anyone cares at all to put in characters, I've already got a Doctor and Donna but that leaves Rose and River Song (and Alice-down-the-road, lol) who I've put into the series already. If anyone really feels like they want to join, for some unfathomable reason, you can join as basically anyone, but they will be the AU version living in the 50's AU. Also they can be before or after any stories I wrote.

Rose: Is greatest of pals with the Doctah and they end up sleeping together only he eventually breaks up with her due to irrational guilt. She is displeased.

River Song: Breaks the norm of society weirdness by not fitting into it at all. FIne with it. Meets the Doctor at a dinner party.

Well, that's that. I doubt that was in any way necessary. Whatevs.

EDIT: If you want to talk to him as YOU then feel completely free!

Right.

Off to start doing Masterly things.
Layouts are hard to find.
I have no skill with graphics whatsoever.

This is a post from my new computer!
Weeeeeeell...for a given definition of "new", I suppose. It's from around...2003, maybe, or a bit later and it's my dad's old computer BUT that does mean I got it for free. So I feel pretty cool, with my constant unfettered computer access and my ACTUALLY schmancy new computer bag and THE INTERNETS.
So even if I couldn't buy that lovely purple laptop that I was vaguely hoping for, this is nearly as good. Plus, my dad gave me his old external harddrive and he's going to give me his old webcam. So I'm totes set.
Life is good.
Plus, this means that I'm going to get together with Lolcorn soon and we can start that 50's AU LJ thing we've been meaning to do for a while/any time one of us (meaning always me) remembers.
I just have to get through this week.
Side note: I was initially going to call it Jamie, to fit my 'male companions theme' as my other computer is called Turlough but as I was trying to install and fix as much as I could on this comp, I ended up sort of stroking the side of the screen affectionately and calling it Lucy.
So there you go, apparently this computer is called Lucy Saxon. Awright.
brb_evil: (Bernard Black)

So....I felt like talking about this. For some reason.
I shift to extremes on my main fandom: Doctor Who. That's the only one that's STUCK. Others come and go but Doctor Who is always there, sulking in the background and killing various people.
But the way I react to it is RIDICULOUS.

If I drift into spoilers this will help you not see them )

Title: A Day At The Fair
Series (Story number): Who's Right? (6)
Summary: No-one has a more wholesome relationship than the Doctor and the Master. Except nearly everybody. 50's AU.
Rating: PG
Characters/pairings: Master/Doctor
Author's notes: Written in text to Leah A. Based off of the last one. I told Leah that I was writing a story about 'an affair' and she misunderstood me and got very excited about the story about 'the fair' that I was writing. So, of course, not to let her down, I wrote it. Explanation of series here.

Mmm...cotton candy. Ten goes a little bit Carlisle. )
