“It’s not funny,” said the Doctor tiredly. “It never was funny. No-one but you thinks it’s funny.”

“I’m surprised—” began the Master.

“No,” the Doctor interrupted.

“—it took you so long to ask,” the Master concluded.

“I just want to read my book,” muttered the Doctor.

“I always knew you were gagging for it,” said the Master, “but it’s nice to hear it directly from you.”

“That’s it,” said the Doctor, standing up, “I’m going to the store.”

“And what are you going there for?” asked the Master, grinning like a hyena.

The Doctor sighed. “Because there are a lot of cracks in the moulding of our bathroom that need to be filled unless we want mold under the moulding.”

“So what are you getting?” the Master prompted.

The Doctor rolled his eyes. “What I really need right now is some caulk,” he said. “I unwisely wondered whether you had any caulk you could give me or if I would have to go find some elsewhere. And apparently I’m going to have to.”

The Master laughed so hard that he collapsed weakly onto the floor.

“Shut up,” said the Doctor.

Then he went caulk shopping.
